Yes — the Ellie Pee Pad is completely machine-washable and dryer-safe.
It’s built with four durable layers — polyester flannel, absorbent cotton, a TPU waterproof film, and a non-slip polyester base — so it holds up wash after wash without losing softness or leak protection.
To clean:
- Rinse off any mess as soon as possible.
- Wash on a cold or warm gentle cycle using mild detergent (no bleach or fabric softener).
- For extra odor removal, add a splash of white vinegar or enzyme cleaner.
- Tumble dry on low or air-dry completely before reuse.
If your pet is potty-training or uses it frequently, keeping two pads in rotation works best: one in use and one in the wash, so your home always looks (and smells) fresh.
How often should I wash it?
For hygiene and longevity, we recommend washing the pad as often as possible after each use, especially if your pet urinates directly on it.
To avoid running the washer nonstop, you can toss used pads into a dedicated laundry bag and wash them all together when you are ready. Some pet parents like to wash daily to keep things extra fresh, while others do a once-a-week reset.
Will my washing machine smell if I wash pee pads in it?

Because each layer is breathable and quick-drying, Ellie won’t trap that lingering “dog pad” smell like disposable ones do.
Will my dog think it’s a rug and pee on other rugs?
Even though the Ellie Pad looks like a stylish rug, trained dogs can tell the difference.
The polyester flannel top and absorbent cotton core hold a distinct texture and their own scent over time — which your dog naturally associates with their potty area, not your living room rug.
And just to clarify: the Ellie Pad isn’t meant to replace outdoor potty time.
It’s designed to replace disposable pads for the moments when you can’t get outside fast enough. Your dog’s regular routine of going outdoors stays exactly the same.
If you’re transitioning from disposable pads, start by placing the Ellie Pad exactly where your dog normally goes.
Most pet parents like keeping it near the door they normally use for outdoor potty breaks, because it reinforces the same direction and pathway: “potty happens here.”
